The Flag of Heroes hangs at Grant Medical Center

We hang the Flag of Heroes over Grant Medical Center’s ambulance entrance in remembrance of the emergency responders that perished on September 11, 2001 and in honor of what emergency responders do every day. Thank you for all that you are, all that you do, and all that you give.

From the Flag of Honor/Flag of Heroes web site by John Michelotti, designer:

My inspiration for designing the Flag of Honor and the Flag of Heroes was the desire:

  • To immortalize the individual victims that were killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001
  • To give comfort to the families left behind knowing that their loved one will be forever honored and remembered.
  • To create an enduring symbol, recognized by the world, of the human sacrifice that occurred on September 11, 2001

The Flag of Heroes contains the names of the emergency services personnel (as of 09/11/08) – the heroes who gave their lives so that others could live.

…these flags give the families, friends, all of America and the world symbols that will forever memorialize, individually, the men, women and children that were lost that dreadful day.
