In Memoriam… Jennie Riedy April 21, 1952 – October 23, 2012

Dear friends,

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jennie Riedy following a prolonged illness. Jennie was a lifelong learner and EMS educator. Her infectious, optimistic spirit has touched the lives of countless friends, patients, families, nurses, physicians, EMTs, Paramedics and others.

Her health care career began with graduation from Grant Medical Center’s School of Nursing in 1973. Over the years she’s been involved in emergency medicine at the bedside in hospitals, in the air as a Flight Nurse, on the ground with EMS, and with thousands of new and experienced EMTs and Paramedics in the classroom.

The quips and pearls of wisdom she offered will be remembered by many. Her perseverance, drive and unwillingness to accept mediocre performance enhanced our care of patients. Willingly, she advanced an agenda promoting preparedness, knowledge, skills and critical thinking by her brothers and sisters in EMS. We are all better because of it.

Her heart was in all that she did and our souls felt it. Today, it is our own hearts and souls that feel the sadness of this loss, whilst also having joy in our spirit because we experienced life with Jenny as a friend and colleague.
