OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital celebrates 100 years!

On May 10, 2018, OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital celebrated its 100th anniversary. In 1915, a small group of forward-thinking community leaders had a vision for a hospital to serve the
people of Richland County.

Today, Mansfield Hospital is the largest medical center in a 60-mile radius and the third largest hospital in the OhioHealth system. Not only is it one of the oldest businesses in north
central Ohio, the hospital is also the largest employer in Richland County and is critical to the stability of the community.

“This is a monumental milestone,” said Jean Halpin, president of Mansfield Hospital and Shelby Hospital. “You don’t often get the privilege to be part of something that has truly been part of the fabric of the community as well as the opportunity to launch the hospital into the next 100 years.”

Congratulations to Mansfield Hospital on 100 years of caring for
their community!

Mansfield Hospital earns Primary Stroke Certification

We are proud to announce that OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital has been certified as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission. Primary Stroke Center certification recognizes those hospitals that follow best practices and the most updated standards of care for stroke patients. These Centers make exceptional efforts to foster better outcomes for stroke survivors and their families.
OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital joins OhioHealth Marion General Hospital, OhioHealth Grant Medical Center and OhioHealth Doctors Hospital as Primary Stroke Centers. OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital is a Comprehensive Stroke Center.
This certification is a strong opportunity to re-position OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital from a stroke network site, to a full-service program with comprehensive neuroscience offerings, including 24/7 stroke care. This work allows us to keep care local, and serve as a meaningful resource for the communities we serve which include Richland, Ashland and Crawford Counties where we treated 180 stoke patients last year.
Congratulations to our Neuroscience program team for all their hard work in elevating our regional stroke program.

OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital Becomes MD Anderson Certified

MedCentral Mansfield

OhioHealth is proud to announce that OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital and its affiliated physicians have been certified by MD Anderson Cancer Network®, a program of MD Anderson Cancer Center, which is ranked the top cancer hospital in the nation.

“OhioHealth’s affiliation with MD Anderson Cancer Network gives our already exceptional cancer care an additional edge — providing our patients with not just one expert care team, but two,” says Mike Bianchi, system vice president, Cancer Care. “Together, OhioHealth and MD Anderson are offering more innovative treatments, more options and more hope to cancer patients and families right here in Ohio.”

Mansfield Hospital joins six other OhioHealth hospitals that were previously certified by MD Anderson Cancer Network — OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, OhioHealth Doctors Hospital, OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital, OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital and OhioHealth Marion General Hospital. To date, these seven OhioHealth hospitals and more than 60 OhioHealth physicians have been certified by MD Anderson.

OhioHealth’s relationship with MD Anderson Cancer Network gives our patients access to nationally recognized cancer care protocols and best practices, while still allowing OhioHealth physicians to direct the care locally. Our certified physicians also have access to peer-to-peer consultations with MD Anderson cancer experts.
